Holistic education on contemporary global issues that emphasizes citizenship and responsibility (global education) is crucial in developing the full democratic potential of a society, yet teachers are lacking support that would enable them to successfully implement it in their curricula.
This project aims to fill the gap by equipping teachers with resources and skills that would help make global education in European school systems a reality. One of the approaches through which global learning can be taught is focused on debate methodology, a cluster of interactive methods that helps students improve their critical thinking skills and informational literacy. The partner organizations will draw from this methodology and collaborate to produce a manual on teaching global learning for teachers, a methodical manual with lesson plans and exercises, a toolkit for students and teachers with case studies demonstrating how the skills gained through the project can be applied, as well as a comprehensive digital platform for individualized learning.
The results will cover topics connected with globalization, inequality, sustainable development, climate, global health, identity, and culture.
Erasmus + project Upgrading global education across subject areas unites ten partner organizations from 5 different European countries. These are Gimnazija Litija, Inštitut za Afriške študije, Univerza v Ljubljani, and Za in proti, zavod za kulturo dialoga (coordinators of the project) from Slovenia, Associazione Societa Nazionale Debate Italia, Universita Telematica Degli Studi IUL, and Liceo scientifico statale Galileo Galilei – Pescara from Italy, International Debate Education Association from the Netherlands, Learning Wizard from Croatia, and Asociace debatnich klubu from Czechia.

Celostna izobrazba glede sodobnih globalnih problemov, ki poudarja državljansko odgovornost, oziroma globalna izobrazba, je ključna za razvijanje polnega demokratičnega potenciala družbe. Kljub temu učiteljem manjka podpora, ki bi jim pomagala pri integraciji globalne izobrazbe v učne načrte.
Namen tega projekta je prebroditi te ovire in učiteljem približati znanja in veščine, ki bodo prispevali k temu, da se bo globalna izobrazba v evropskih izobraževalnih sistemih tudi v praksi bolj celovito izvajala. Eden od pristopov, preko katerega je možno poučevati globalno izobrazbo, temelji na debatni metodologiji, skupkom interaktivnih metod, ki učencem med drugim pomagajo pri izboljšanju veščin kritičnega razmišljanja in informacijske pismenosti. Partnerji bodo črpali iz te metodologije in sodelovali pri razvijanju priročnika za učitelje, metodološkega priročnika z učnimi načrti in vajami, zbirke študij primerov za učence in učitelje, ki bo demonstrirala kako se veščine, pridobljene skozi projekt, lahko uporabijo za analizo aktualnih družbenih problemov, ter spletne platforme namenjene individualnem učenju.
Rezultati bodo vključevali vsebine povezane z globalizacijo, neenakostjo, trajnostnim razvojem, podnebjem, globalnim zdravjem, identiteto ter kulturo.
